Comparing Types of Self Storage

Self storage rental comes in many different shapes and sizes. Mini storage can be a small storage unit the size of a tiny closet, or large enough to store everything in your house. It can even be large enough for RV storage, boat storage and vehicle storage. You can choose short term or long term storage, and you even have a choice between three basic types of self storage like outdoor storage, indoor units and the kind of storage you can drive right up to.

Each type of storage is ideal for a certain item, but usually able to hold other items as well - with the exception of outdoor storage, which is most suitable for vehicles, boats, RVs, motorcycles and other large equipment like lawn or farm equipment, and not suitable for most general items. But with indoor storage, you can store some large equipment, as well as things like valuables and paperwork, and drive-up storage is suitable for just about anything you need to store, including boats, RVs and other vehicles.

Drive-up storage units are probably the most common self storage available. These units are about the size of a small garage, with the standard size typically coming in at about 10 x 10. They can be smaller or larger, with varying ceiling heights. These units are usually not climate control storage, so anything stored in them will need to be able to stand up to possible extreme temperatures, based on the climate in your area. A drive-up storage unit is convenient because you can back a truck right up to the unit and unload it there. You don't have to carry items through a building to get to an indoor storage unit. And because the door is like a garage door that rolls up and out of the way, the opening is large enough to easily accommodate things like appliances and furniture, and even allows some vehicles to drive right in, if the facility allows vehicles in their drive-up storage units (and most do).

You may even be able to find climate control drive-up self storage, but don't assume that the facility offers them. Ask so you can be sure to get the right storage for you needs. There are some possible drawbacks to this type of self storage, whether you're using it for boat storage, vehicle storage, or general storage.

Because the door is accessible from the outside, there's a higher risk of theft or a break-in than you'll find with indoor self storage. It's important with drive-up storage facilities for you be aware of their security measures before you commit to storage rental. You'll want to make sure someone can't just walk up to the building, cut off your lock and gain access to your belongings. Check their security carefully. Also, be sure not to put anything in the unit for long term storage that could suffer under hot and cold conditions, if the unit isn't climate control storage. Anything that could be ruined by the slightest moisture, warp, or mildew isn't a great candidate for long term storage in this type of unit. You should never store food or anything perishable in any storage unit, but be sure you're aware of everything you put inside and that nothing that could possibly draw insects or vermin might be in any of your boxes. Since the door is easily accessible from the outside, items like this could present a real problem.

Indoor self storage offers you a storage unit inside a building that might contain several floors of storage. These are the most likely to be climate control storage, but be sure to ask because not all indoor storage is heated and cooled. Most mini storage units are found in indoor storage facilities, too. The doors can be roll-up doors like a garage or ordinary doors. These have better security than drive-up and outdoor storage, and are good for people who need climate control storage or just prefer to house their items in an indoor setting, rather than a warehouse or garage-type storage unit.

Outdoor storage usually costs less than both indoor storage (which is the most expensive in almost all cases) and drive-up storage. You can rent storage units big enough for huge RV storage or small enough for a one-person recreational vehicle, like a motorcycle or four-wheeler. The might be covered with a carport, featuring cement or gravel floors. Security of the entire storage area is of utmost importance when you choose outdoor self storage.

Pokemon Silver Rom Storage System Issue?
Hi, I'm having an issue with the storage system (BILL'S PC) on the Silver rom. Here's what will happen. Box 1 is full. If I switch to Box 2 and say OK to saving and yes to overwriting and then deposit say a Diglett in Box 2 and then view the box list, it says I have some order of 50/20 Pokemon in Box 2. Furthermore, when I switch back to Box 1 (again OK / Yes'ing all the prompts that come up) and then back to Box 2, that Diglett won't be there. Help's appreciated... Also, I've used one gameshark code to get Everstones. I started a new game using the same rom and emulator, caught a Pidgey, and the system seemed to work fine for him.

Xbox(S) unofficial harddrive?
Stripped out an ancient desktop and wandering if I can use the samsung s0802n HDD in an xbox 360 4GB, I know they have different storage systems but there are programs available that modify hard drives to work and would one of those work on this particular HDD? No 'buy official accessories' people here please, I am not paying £130 for a £40 hard drive in a snazzy box.

If the human body's so perfect, why do we have so little conscious control over it's internal processes?
All the machines we build have a lot of options for internal control, because it makes them better. So why doesn't the human body, which is just the machine that an omnipotent being built to house "souls", if you're to believe christianity. You'd think that such a machine wouldn't have basic engineering screwups, like an unregulated energy storage system (body fat) that in many cases actually ends up destroying other vital systems because it's so crudely engineered. Just saying, intelligent designs of even humans try not to build systems that actively destroy themselves as a regular feature of operation. Imagine a car whose "empty" indicator starts shifting until you need more than a full tank of gas to sate it's hunger? That's what the human body's like, it's indicators and internal sensors are not robust enough to deal with all the use-cases of the system (bad engineering, by definition). Note that we humans are quite adept at working around these engineering mishaps, by ignoring sensory signals for example (ignoring hunger). However, if a sensory signal can't be trusted, then that's also bad engineering. A fuel empty light when you still have half a tank is bad engineering. we do not need to consciously think about making our heart beat or breathe or digest our food Having control over those does not necessarily mean having to consciously perform every single control signal. It would be useful, for example, to be able to control one's heart rate. If one is about to start running, one knows that their heart rate should increase so as to take into account the exertion BUT the human body's autonomous control of this does not kick in straight away (it's like really awful turbo-lag on a car), which is bad design (conscious control would enable better sprinting, for example). "the reason you can ignore hunger is because your body has reserves set aside" Did you read the question? Body fat is an unregulated system, it does more harm than good in a society which has a more than ample food supply. It's like overcharging batteries, they degrade over time and can burst, destroying the rest of the system - and why use batteries anyway if you have a well-regulated wall socket supply next to you anyway? Have you seen just how many people are having to CONSCIOUSLY diet so as to regulate said fat storage already? It would be a lot easier (not to mention better engineered design) if we could just control the levels of fat production and storage internally - LIKE ANY DEVICE WITH AN INTERNAL STORAGE BATTERY THAT WE BUILD ... "The problem comes from eating crappy processed foods that we aren't meant to eat" There's a lot of truth in that, but my point is that despite an omniscient god knowing about this use-case (it has to, it's omniscient ...), it did not account for the use-case, which could only happen if it weren't omnipotent/omniscient or heck, even remotely intelligent and capable even by human standards :P "A machine that runs automatically is superior to a machine that must be operated." Having parametric control over a system is NOT the same as producing all control signals manually. An automated machine that functions incorrectly is not superior to a machine with manual control that is operated correctly.

Is Obama obligated to subsidize failing solar companies?
Another solar company bit the dust: http://thehill.com/blogs/e2-wire/e2-wire/190641-second-energy-dept-backed-company-goes-bankrupt A Massachusetts company that received a $43 million Energy Department loan guarantee last year filed for bankruptcy Sunday, a step certain to fuel criticism of federal green energy financing in the wake of the solar company Solyndra?s collapse. Beacon Power Corp., which develops energy storage systems, filed for bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware. And I hear many liberals blaming Republicans for outsourcing, and blaming China for unfair business practices. Even if all that is true, isn't still idiotic to invest in companies that are going up in flames? So far we have 2 failing companies, more will follow. At what point will Liberals want something to change here? Hank, what do you call giving 500 billion to Solyndra? It's not a loan because the government will not get every penny back. And giving a loan for 1% as in this case, that's a subsidy. Let them borrow the money at market rates. Mr. 2012, you're saying that this is OK? Democrats have contributed to the welfare of oil companies too. It's not like only Republicans benefited from oil deals. And Mr 2012, taking your statement as truth, at least oil companies are providing permanent jobs. What's the unemployment rate in South Dakota? It's less than %, thanks to the oil industry. If you're going to subsidize, at least show something for it, don't subsidize bankruptcy.
