How to Organize Your Kitchen on a Budget
There are many things that you already have in your home that you can use to organize your kitchen. All it takes is a little creativity and imagination.
Old food containers
Yogurt containers are especially helpful for storing small things like corn holders, twist ties, toothpicks, rubber bands, paper clips and push pins. Take a black marker and write down on the lid of the container what is inside. That way you do not have to open it to figure out what you put in the container.
Larger plastic containers from things like margarine work great for helping you organize sauce packets or spice packets. When you use this to organize your kitchen, make sure to store the same kind of packets together. If you have several containers with different types of packets, labeling the side of the container works great.
Glass jars from spaghetti sauce, jelly, olives, pickles or mayonnaise work great for storing items as well. The great part about glass jars is that you can see what is inside so there is no need to bother with labeling them.
Using cardboard as drawer dividers
I have used this one myself before and it works great. Measure the drawer to make sure that you cut the cardboard the right size and then just cut a sturdy piece of cardboard to fit in the drawer. In order to make it look better, wrap each divider in some standard brown craft paper. This is a great way to organize your kitchen drawers and it does not cost a cent.
Shoe boxes
Shoe boxes are my favorite organizing tool. My preference is to use the basic Plastic Shoe Boxes that you can find very inexpensively in stores but you can use traditional cardboard shoe boxes just as easily. I like the Plastic Shoe Boxes because you can easily see the contents inside and often then do not have to label anything. If you decide to use the traditional cardboard shoe boxes, it makes it easier (and makes it look nicer) if you cover them in brown craft paper and label the outside.
When I organize my kitchen, I use shoe boxes for organizing oatmeal packets, granola bars, pastas and a whole lot more. They keep your cupboards neat and are easily stackable so you can maximize the use of your space.

is it better to apply decals one day at a time?
If you apply one decal, let it set for 24 hours and then apply the next and so on, will the results be the same. and what about plastic shoe boxes how that benfit the end result of a paint job.

Does anyone know a place to buy, inexpensive?
clear, plastic shoe boxes? Tired of all my shoes sitting on the floor in the closet, getting dusty, stepped on etc. I don't want like a thing you hang over the closet door or a massive plastic bin......just boxes that clear and shoe sized - that don't cost an arm and a leg or a foot - HAHA!!

Should shoes be stored in plastic shoeboxes?
I guess I have this irrational thought that shoes need to have air circulating around them. On the other hand, keeping them in plastic shoe boxes would be neater and it would be easy to see what's inside. What do you think?

i just bought a plastic shoe box at walgreens. i put all my stuff for sale in there, and i have another bigger box with stuff i use, and the stuff in my drawers i use, etc.
i took out my sharpie and labeled it "for sale", is this good?

??'s For those who use Cloth Mama Pads?
What do you use to soak your cloth pads in so that little ones cannot get into them (since they are the dirty ones and are in a soaking solution?). I keep my clean ones in various wetbags in a plastic shoe box style box, and need something discreet yet childproof for the dirty ones.

I live in a small apartment and don't have the obvious high spaces to utilize for putting the soaking pot out of reach. I am looking for a locking container that my kids can't get in to since it would be within their reach.
The soaking solution I use is a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and detergent as bleach is not good for the fabric fibers. While it is not bleach, I still don't want my kids to get into it (YUCK!)

my leopard gecko got squished!?
i noticed that one of my leopard geckos was missing in the aquarium. and i lifted the box house up and found her squished underneath the box! i remembered then that i was in a hurry out of the house and the box was misaligned so i moved it back thinking all the leopard geckos were inside the box but i didnt see the one inside and i put the box on top of her! i feel really bad. the box was a plastic shoe box with dirt inside, all would weigh about a pound or 2. but when i lifted the box she couldnt open her eyes and her bones looked kinda deformed. but she began to move like normal. what do i do to see if everything is alright? and no suggestions about a vet because i got budget problems right now

Red Ear Slider Eggs: keeping them warm?
Our female has just laid 7 eggs. We are going to have to transfer them to a breeding box, which will most likely be a plastic shoe box with soil. This was not planned, so we are a bit behind on how to handle this.
What is the best way to keep the eggs warm?
